FRUITA, CO - August 6, 2026 - Neuralytix, LLC (www.nerve.health) today recognized Dr. Ross Jones, DO, an orthopaedic spine surgeon at Flagstaff Bone & Joint in Flagstaff, Arizona, as one of the first surgeons to adopt mechanomyography (MMG) as an intraoperative decompression endpoint, and as a foundational contributor to the growing peer-reviewed evidence base behind the approach.
Dr. Jones is a co-author of a 2025 pilot study in the Journal of Personalized Medicine, which followed 42 patients across 112 nerve decompressions and found that MMG threshold metrics anchored to a physiologic reference point were more predictive of post-operative pain relief than simple percentage-based threshold change (Abdulhak et al., 2025).
He is also lead author of a newly published 600-patient retrospective study in the North American Spine Society Journal comparing his own surgical outcomes before and after routinely adopting intraoperative MMG as a decompression endpoint (Jones & Nay, 2026). The study, which used a predicate MMG system prior to the iD3 System's commercial availability, found that 90-day unplanned return to the operating room fell from 9.7% to 2.7%, incidental durotomy fell from 9.7% to 2.3%, and mean 3-month pain scores improved from 4.91 to 1.93 on a 10-point scale. As a retrospective, single-surgeon analysis, the study's authors describe the findings as hypothesis-generating and call for prospective multicenter validation - but the magnitude and consistency of the association mark one of the most substantial single-surgeon adoption studies published on MMG to date.
"We can build the technology, but only surgeons can tell us whether it belongs in the OR." — said Christopher Wybo, Founder and CEO of Neuralytix. "Dr. Jones has spent five years asking hard questions and testing them with data — and the outcomes he's seeing are exactly the kind of signal that makes us optimistic about what MMG can mean for patients."
