The Italian Society of Spinal Surgery (Società Italiana di Chirugia Vertebrale-Gruppo Italiano Scoliosi, SICV&GIS), founded in 1977 as a Study Group dedicated to Scoliosis, is one of the longest-standing Italian Associations of Orthopedics.
Our mission is to promote the highest quality ethics, science and research in spine care through education, research and collaboration with other organizations for the benefit of our members and patients.
In order to provide a wide range of specialties, the Society is composed of orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
The Society has always been active in international collaborations. Many of its Members have held positions in international Societies, such as Eurospine, AoSpine and Scoliosis Research Society. Furthermore, the Society is a Member of the European Spine Societies Advisory Board, a Partner Member of SPINE20 and since 2022 a NASS Strategic Partner through NASS International.
