The BMAC produced using the Terumo BCT BMAC Process Disposable and the SmartPrep® System contains a rich mixture of components including stem cells, progenitor cells, platelets, growth factors, lymphocytes and granulocytes. The BMAC system generates higher concentrations of nucleated cells than an iliac crest autograft. The concentration of nucleated cells found in bone marrow aspirate generated from the BMAC system is 4.5 ± 0.5 times greater than the concentration of nucleated cells in unprocessed bone marrow aspirate. Higher cell concentration means more cells with potential healing power are delivered to the application site.

The platelet concentrate system is designed to be used for the safe and rapid preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from a small sample of blood at the patient’s point of care. The PRP can be mixed with autograft and allograft bone prior to application to an orthopedic surgical site as deemed necessary by the clinical use requirements. The floating shelf used in our PRP process disposable is specifically designed to selectively capture the mononuclear fraction of the WBC population. This fraction contains the majority of peripheral stem cells, identified by the CD34+ marker.

Concentrated adipose tissue provides a physical scaffold of multiple cellular components. The benefits of concentrated adipose tissue include a high concentration of MSCs and a minimally invasive process for the removal and collection of stem cells (compared to the removal of bone marrow). The AdiPrep system can generate an adipose graft capable of delivering a high concentration of stem cells directly to the application site.
